Four Roots Ranch is an animal sanctuary dedicated to the rehabilitation and lifelong care of alpacas and llamas in need. We provide a safe haven and forever home for animals through compassionate intervention and individualized care.

Education is at the heart of our mission. Through workshops, community outreach, and accessible resources, we aim to equip individuals with the tools they need to make informed, thoughtful decisions animals in their care.

Who We Are

We are a family of six living in beautiful Bend, Oregon. Our journey with animals began in 2017 when we connected with a rescue organization rehoming alpacas in need. Moved by their mission, we welcomed 20 alpacas into our care, giving them a loving forever home.

These animals quickly captured our hearts, and we realized we had the space and love to help more animals in need.

In 2019, Four Roots Ranch became a non-profit, allowing us to expand our commitment to animal rescue and care.

We have experienced tremendous growth since welcoming our first group of alpacas, but we remain 100% family run.

What We Do

Our sanctuary provides a safe haven for animals that have endured abuse, abandonment, and neglect, as well as those whose owners can no longer care for them due to significant life changes. Our sanctuary is also home to several disabled animals, and we have a large population of senior animals who require special care and attention.

While alpacas and llamas are our specialty, our sanctuary is also home to sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and cats.

We share the stories of our animals to raise awareness about compassionate animal care, the unique needs of animals, and the importance of responsible ownership.

Giving Back

In addition to providing a forever home to animals in need, we are committed to helping our community. We offer guidance on housing and feeding, give medical care advice, facilitate adoption referrals, and assist with managing herd and flock dynamics.

We’re here to share our knowledge and resources with those that may need support, whether they’re caring for one animal or a larger group of animals.

Through these efforts, we aim to create a supportive network that benefits both animals and their caretakers.

Today, our sanctuary is a safe haven for over 130 animals!
